This book can be read as a stand-alone novel or after reading the All Souls Trilogy, the story follows Vampire Marcus Whitmore, who is Matthew De Claremont’s son and his girlfriend Phoebe who are featured in the previous novels, but this one concentrates on Marcus and Phoebe’s story.
Phoebe has made the decision to become a vampire so that she can be with Marcus for eternity, the book follows her transition and also reunites us Matthew and Diana are their family.
This book also tells of Marcus’s history, as a human before he met Matthew De Claremont and became a vampire. This book also encompasses American history this time, as Marcus’s history is set in the time of the American civil war.
This book introduces some new characters and brings back favourite characters from the previous novels, as the previous books did this book also hooks you from the beginning and keeps you wanting to read more until you devour every last page.
I sincerely hope that Deb Harkness writes more books in this series and I would like more information on some of the other characters!
