I devoured this book in 4 days, I couldn’t put it down! I know what you’re thinking is it like the Fifty Shades series and I can confirm the only similarities are the saucy scenes between the characters, but the story is new, the characters are new, the storyline is interesting and believable.
The characters English aristocrat Maxim Trevethick, falls in love with his mysterious Albanian immigrant housemaid, Alessia Demachi.
Maxim who has just lost is brother and inherited his titles and estate, suddenly finds he can no longer enjoy the carefree lifestyle he has become accustomed to, he continually falls out with his sister-in-law Caroline who was his lover, but she chose his brother Kit instead of him. Whilst Maxim is adapting to these changes, he returns to his flat one day and finds his Albanian housemaid playing the most exquisite music on his piano, she is unaware he is there and he is mesmerised by her beauty and her gifted piano playing as she plays without any music to follow.
At first Alessia has no idea about Maxim’s titles and Maxim has no idea about Alessia’s past and how she came to the UK and escaped the men who smuggled her into the country, she has no passport as they took it from her and she overheard them planning to put her to work in the sex trade and knew she must escape.
Her past catches up with her as the men, come looking for her at Maxim’s apartment, when Maxim finds out he takes her off to Cornwall and takes steps to keep her safe, the more he gets to know her the more he is captivated by her and he wants to protect her.
Maxim introduces Alessia to sexual pleasure and he enjoys her company, unlike most of the women in his life who other than sex he has nothing in common with them, but Alessia is different.
But the thugs that brought Alessia to the UK come for her, they are to return her to Albania as she is promised to a local families son, who revolts Alessia and the thought of marrying him makes her sick, she fears him.
Maxim takes off to Albania to rescue the women he loves and to ask her Dad for her hand in marriage.
This story made me laugh, made me cry and everything in between, it’s such a beautiful story, I couldn’t put the book down until I had read every last page.
